Physician Assistant - Walk-in Clinic
Works under the supervision of the physician in a walk-in orthopaedic clinical setting, provides high quality treatment and healthcare services, counsels patients, and makes referrals as needed.
- Evaluates and triages walk-in patients
- Assess patient health by interviewing patient, performing physical examinations, obtaining, updating and studying medical histories
- Determines condition by ordering diagnostic tests; interpreting test results
- Provides acute patient care by identifying patient care issues that must be addressed; recommend options and courses of actions; implement physician directives
- Performs therapeutic procedures by administering injections; suturing; managing wounds and infections
- Perform Reduction Procedures to restore a fracture or dislocation to the correct alignment
- May assist with in-patient surgical procedures
- Issue appropriate prescriptions
- Cultivate a climate of trust and compassion for the patients
- Inform physicians about any problems or discrepancies that may arise
- Collaborate effectively with team members of various specialties
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations
- Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control polices and protocols
- Complies with federal, state and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge and apply new knowledge to the job
- Educates and counsel patients and families as appropriate
- Adheres to company policies as described in employment handbook and company work rules.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient account information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines and NMOA policy
- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Perform other physician related duties as assigned.

- Ability to work a flexible schedule; evenings and maybe some weekends
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
BA/BS (MS preferred) and a minimum one year experience as a PA. Orthopedic experience is preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Graduate of AMA accredited physician assistant program and a current New Mexico PA license is required. A copy of the PA certification is required. Maintaining the certification is the PAs responsibility and all costs are reimbursed by the company upon completion.
